When the Director of beauty of Cosmopolitan Leah Wyar last headed for Paris, she came to the boutique chic Colette to see what Parisian women went crazy for beauty-wise. Surprised by Leah, she found S.W. Basics, formerly known as Sprout - a line of beauty based in Brooklyn, on the counter. Later, she asked a colleague, she traveled with and learned that the Parisian are obsessed by all things BK - including this brand of beauty.
So, we called founder Adina Grigore to get the scoop on its line of minimalist beauty which is very cool and covet-worthy. Here's what you need to know about his company:
1. It was created by Grigore need for natural products and would not his skin panic when it is washed, exfoliated, or applied the cream.
2. Each product is all natural and made with only five ingredients or less.
3. Grigore creates each formula by using food ingredients to start - she studied holistic nutrition, so she knows what she's talking about, then she adds water or oils, according to what is produced and what it needs to function properly.
4. Cream, which is made from Shea butter, coconut oil and olive oil, was the first product it has launched in 2009 and continues to be their best seller today.
5. Although natural, all products have pushed and a sensitivity to the spirit and work really well. "We have tea tree oil in our cleaner so it helps with acne;" Witch Hazel and raw apple cider vinegar in our toner to help neutralize skin pH levels; non-comedogenic Shea butter and coconut oil and oil in our cream which does not clog the pores. sea salt, almonds and oats which is finely ground, so they are not too hard or too soft and can de-gunk your skin, "Grigore tells Cosmo. ''
6. The line also consists of a cleanser, Exfoliator, body oil for the body and lip balm together (a bio, a vegan) who have all of the ingredients of the farm-to-sink.
7. All products last up to a year and a half, but they are shelf stable, so you don't have to refrigerate anything.
8. Everything in the line is quite affordable and is available in two sizes: one ounce (which is travel-friendly) and four ounces.
9. Almost everything in the line is still hand made in their warehouse in Green Point, Brooklyn, but they are the transition to manufacturers throughout the United States since they receive more day by day.
10. There are more to come. "We are working on the lip gloss, bars of SOAP without chemicals and hair care," said Grigore.
